About Las Yahoskas
Las Yahoskas is a rural residence for girls who have been rescued from the streets of Nicaragua. Many of them are survivors of abuse and exploitation. Here, in a tranquil, caring, healthy environment, the girls receive love, medical care, education, nutritious meals and psychological counseling. They also receive self-esteem building opportunities such as dance, computer skills and sports. Here is a video of some of the girls
This mini-farm can host up to 35 girls aged 5 to 16. Located about 30km from Managua near the village of San Marcos. Las Yahoskas is a sister venture of Los Quinchos which is the equivalent home for boys. |
Our Team in Nicaragua
In 1990, Zelinda Roccia from Italy founded the first non-governmental association designed to assist the street children of Nicaragua. Los Quinchos was established to transform the lives and opportunities for boys. Zelinda expanded by opening Las Yahoskas for their sisters in 1999. History link

Our Team in Ottawa
We are a support group for Las Yahoskas, a transformational home in Nicaragua. Inspired by the program's motto “Never again a Child on the Street”, a group of friends in Ottawa, Canada, formed “Las Yahoskas Ottawa Committee” in 2010. Our founders are immigrants from Nicaragua who have built successful lives in Ottawa. Their devotion and love for their country of origin and their belief that every girl deserves to be seen, heard, supported and valued inspires them to contribute and lead this worthy cause in Ottawa.
Our mission and commitment is to bring awareness and funds to ensure the continued care for the girls living in Las Yahoskas. Since 2011 we have held numerous fundraisers and awareness activities. Our friends include several students at Cairine Wilson High School New members always welcome. |
