Las Yahoskas - Ottawa Committee
We are volunteers working together to offer home, hope and opportunities for a better future for children in Nicaragua. We raise awareness and funds to ensure the continuous care and well-being of the girls who have been rescued from the streets of Nicaragua to live safely in an established rural residence. Here at Las Yahoskas - Nicaragua they are nurtured to become strong women of Nicaragua and future global citizens.
Las Yahoskas - Nicaragua
A residence program for young girls in Nicaragua; ages five (5) to sixteen (16). Our mandate is to provide a healthy environment for these girls victims of domestic violence and/or child exploitation. In their new home, the girls receive educational support, nutritious meals, psychological counseling, have access to public education and health care, participate in sports, folkloric and modern dance. Las Yahoskas is a sister association of Los Quinchos, the first non-governmental association designed to assist the street children of Nicaragua. Los Quinchos were founded in 1990 by Zelinda Roccia. In 1999 Zelinda expanded to create Las Yahoskas residence for the girls.
